(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Former President Donald Trump took to social media to slam Judge Arthur Engoron who is overseeing his New York civil fraud trial for being “obsessed” with him. He further accused Engoron of being unable to handle the truth and that he is just not able to “let it go.”
Letitia James, the Attorney General of New York filed a lawsuit against Trump, the Trump Organization, and his two adult sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump for $250 million. In the suit, she accuses them of having inflated the value of their assets in order to gain more beneficial terms and deals from insurers and banks while they also deflated the value of their assets in order to benefit from lower taxation. According to James, this practice had been used for a decade, from 2011 to 2021.
The Trump family has widely dismissed the accusations and they have maintained that they are completely innocent. They have also stated that James was politically motivated in filing the suit and that this was just an attempt to harm the former President’s third presidential campaign.
As the case is a civil fraud case there is no chance that it could result in Trump facing any jail time.
In October, before the start of the trial, Engoron had found that the defendants had committed fraud and that they would be held civilly liable for an extent that would be decided during the trial. The court is also going to be ruling on six of the other accusations in the suit, including insurance fraud, falsifying business records, and conspiracy claims.
