Former President Donald Trump has spoken about his political win in Florida against the state’s governor Ron DeSantis who is widely expected to join the 2024 presidential race.

On Saturday Politico put out a report titled “Florida win for Trump,” in which they wrote about Christian Ziegler winning the Florida Republican Party chair elections. Ziegler is a political consultant with strong ties to former Trump advisors. The Florida Republican Party elections were a result of its former chair Joe Gruters not trying for reelection. Ziegler, who had previously acted as the vice chair, managed to win over Leon County GOP leader Evan Power, with 126 votes to 100.

According to the Politico report, sources state that the election of Ziegler as chair has led to many supporters of Governor Ron DeSantis expressing worries about the effects of this election in the 2024 presidential election cycle.

In November, Trump became the first major GOP member to announce his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election. Earlier in February, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley also joined the race becoming Trump’s first official challenger in the GOP primary. DeSantis is also widely expected to join the race, following his rising presence in the GOP. The GOP primary is expected to become a lot more crowded within the coming months.

Trump took to Truth Social to share the article about Ziegler winning, calling it a victory “for ALL” and not just a victory against DeSantis.
