
Former President Donald Trump has fired back after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called him “a loser for our nation and for the Republican Party” in an interview with Fox News Digital. Trump has maintained that he had no idea who Fuentes was nor was he familiar with his ideology. He has also added that it was a “very quick dinner,” and that had he known it “wouldn’t have been accepted.”.
McConnell, R-Ky., condemned Trump nonetheless and said that Trump was unlikely to win the 2024 GOP nomination because of this event. McConnell added that within the Republican party there is no space for antisemitism or white supremacy.
Trump was also asked to respond to the comments made by McConnell. Trump said that McConnell “is a loser for our nation and for the Republican Party” and that the only reason he was reelected in Kentucky is because of his endorsement.
McConnell’s representative has refused to comment on Trump’s statements.
Fuentes, who was Trump’s dinner guest, is known for being a white nationalist and he has made several antisemitic and racist comments. He has however claimed that he is not a Holocaust denier despite his comments. Ye, or as he is better known Kanye West, also came under fire recently for the antisemitic remarks that he made. Trump has noted that Ye was there to seek counsel from him, as he was having difficulties, some of which are financial.
