Former President Donald Trump is trying to take advantage of the potential indictment by the Manhattan district attorney by using it to raise money for his 2024 presidential campaign while portraying himself as a victim.

Trump has used his platform to call for his supporters to protest against any arrest and to fight for their country. Many fear that this message closely resembles the one that he had made prior to the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump and his legal team currently appear to believe that the legal case brought forth against him could be used for his benefit in the GOP primary race. However, his call for a protest has also been met with a lot of opposition.

Taylor Budowich, head of the Trump-aligned Make America Great Again, Inc. PAC, in a Sunday memo said that the case being brought forth by DA Alvin Bragg was only helping to increase the support for the former President. She added that it would “become the single largest in-kind contribution to a federal campaign in political history.

On Saturday, Trump had taken to Truth Social to suggest that he was going to be arrested on Tuesday, he then proceeded to write “PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”

Trump’s campaign apparatus has also sent out fundraising requests in order to gain the most support possible from the legal troubles that Trump has found himself in. This move is meant to help increase the support that Trump has surrounding the investigations surrounding him.

A Trump campaign spokesperson later stated that the former President had not been given any notice about an arrest and his comments had been based on recent media reports.
