(TruthandLiberty.com) – Former President Donald Trump revealed Monday that Judge Juan Merchan, who has been presiding over the NY vs Trump case, had one way to “gain the respect back.”
Following a whirlwind day in court, Trump told reporters outside the Manhattan courtroom that Merchan should drop the case, adding that if the judge did that he would “gain the respect back.”
Trump criticized the system that had allowed the presumptive Republican Party nominee to endure “five weeks in a freezing cold ice box” where he had to listen to the case unfold.
The former President then revealed that his legal team had requested the judge terminate the case despite describing the case as “going very well.”
Instead, Trump proclaimed his innocence, stating he hadn’t committed a crime or done anything wrong.
Earlier on Monday, Trump’s attorney, Todd Blanche, motioned for an order of dismissal, noting that the prosecution hadn’t provided evidence of filings or business records being falsified.
Trump is on trial for allegedly falsifying business records in an apparent attempt to cover up a $130,000 payment made to Stormy Daniels, an adult film star who alleges she had a sexual encounter with him in 2006. He faces 34 counts of falsifying his business records in the first degree.
To secure a conviction, District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office will need to prove to the jury that Trump falsified business records and that he did it to further another crime — conspiracy to prevent or promote an election.
Blanche asserted that there was “no way” the court could let the case go to the jury based on former Trump attorney Michael Cohen’s testimony.
Merchan then revealed he would rule on Trump’s legal team’s motion to dismiss later, but didn’t specify the time.
