Renowned Writer Shares Final Goodbyes With Readers

On Tuesday, May 10, popular UK radio host and cancer victim Deborah James bade farewell to her 479,000 Instagram fans. In December 2016, when she was only 34 years old, James was diagnosed with an extraordinarily rare form of cancer. The radio host regularly shared her journey battling cancer in the UK newspaper The Sun. Her fans came to know her as a cancer warrior.
The journalist said it was time to give up her battle in her final newspaper column. Over the last six months, she was confined to hospital care, couldn’t walk, and didn’t have many visitors while she fought back-to-back episodes of sepsis. She said the illness left her exhausted, and it became more challenging to bounce back as the cancer progressed.
James added her body had come under so much duress she had no choice but to give in to it. She’s now living her final days in hospice care in her home. Despite appearances, the advocate isn’t pretending to be brave. In fact, the 40-year-old said she was a scared girl. The popular radio host gave her husband strict orders. Deborah told Seb he’s handsome, so she warned him not to get taken for a ride, and she said he wasn’t allowed to marry a bimbo.
Deborah James recently founded the Bowelbabe Fund to raise money to fight cancer. In less than 24 hours, it raised over $1 million.
