(TruthAndLiberty.com) – House Speaker Mike Johnson has claimed that the GOP might bring forward legal challenges as the Democratic Party is going to attempt to replace President Joe Biden as the party’s nominee. On Sunday President Biden announced that he would no longer be seeking reelection in the 2024 presidential race.
During an appearance on ABC News’ “This Week,” the Louisiana Republican pointed out that these elections were being handled at the state level. He added that each state had its own systems in place and that it was not always possible to just replace the candidate that had been selected during the Democrat’s primary process.
Johnson also noted that it would be “wrong” and possibly “unlawful” according to some state rules for only a small number of people to just decide on their own to switch the presidential candidate just because they no longer liked the candidate that had been selected and that this is not how this process is meant to work.
He proceeded to state that regardless of how this would work out it has caused complete disarray in the Democratic Party while the Republican Party is currently more united than it has ever been before.
Johnson also opposed those polls that had stated that President Biden and former President Donald Trump were currently going head to head, arguing that Trump was actually possibly leading by a landslide. He added that people should not just take his word for it and that many top leading Democrats across the country are panicking because of the headlines that have emerged in the past few weeks.
