Significant Republican Majority Found Amongst Florida Registered Voters

Former Democrat Stronghold State Crumbles

(TruthandLiberty.com) – For decades, pundits considered Florida a swing state. Presidential campaigns targeted the state for its Electoral College votes. As Florida voted, so went the country. Over the last five years, though, the Sunshine State has lost its purple hue. It appears voters are moving decidedly in the direction of the GOP, making it much harder for Democrats to hold seats in Congress and win the presidency.

So, how good are the Republican fortunes? In 2008, then-Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama defeated GOP presidential candidate John McCain by 200,000 votes. At that time, The Hill said Democrats outnumbered Republicans by 700,000 in Florida.

In November 2021, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said when voters elected him in 2018, Democrats had 280,000 more voters than Republicans. Now, the popular governor noted that for the first time, Republicans outnumbered Democrats by 200,000.

To make matters worse for Democrats and better for Republicans, The Epoch Times reported the GOP enjoyed only a 43,000-voter lead in December. That means 157,000 more individuals registered as Republicans in only eight months. DeSantis’ gubernatorial campaign spokesperson Lindsey Curnutte insinuated that Florida Republicans could thank President Joe Biden and congressional Democrats for their fortunes.

So, do the new registration numbers mean DeSantis is a shoo-in for re-election in November? We’ll find out in less than four months.
