(TruthandLiberty.com) – There is a lot of tension in Hollywood right now. On Sunday, March 27, Oscar-winning actor Will Smith decided to defend his wife after Oscars host Chris Rock appeared to insult her. Smith walked onto the stage and violently slapped Rock across the face. Over the following 24 hours, some viewers defended Will Smith for protecting his wife, not connecting the dots that he’d technically committed a crime. On Wednesday, Newsmax host and former Trump White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer compared Will Smith’s act to Alec Baldwin’s shooting of a cinematographer with a gun prop ahead of filming a movie.
Spicer alleged Baldwin didn’t just shoot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins by accident. The Newsmax host accused Baldwin of murdering her on set last October. He claimed the overriding sentiment in Hollywood is to protect their own and added the Oscars barely recognized Hutchins’s death on Sunday evening. Spicer stated despite Will Smith’s assault on Chris Rock, many people felt bad for Smith and not for the actual victim, Rock.

Both incidents are under investigation. Still, police haven’t charged Baldwin with a crime, even as he tries to avoid liability in what he called an accident. It’s unknown if the police will charge Smith with assault, but they could press charges independently of Rock, who says he doesn’t want to pursue any action.
