(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Sunday, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., argued that he was going to be accepting the results of the 2024 presidential election, much like he had done in 2020, and that he would be certifying the results in 2025.
In an interview on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” Cotton argued that he did not believe that Congress was given the authority by the Constitution to reject electors that have received state certification. He added that in the case of a fair and free election, he would be accepting the results and certifying them.
Former President Donald Trump is believed to have Cotton as one of the possible options in his vice-presidential shortlist. However, when Cotton was asked if he would be accepting a possible invitation for the role, Cotton stated that he has not had any conversations with Trump or his campaign regarding that. However, he noted that any patriot would be happy to serve in that position and to be given the chance to serve by the U.S. president. This is why he would seriously be considering the offer.
In recent weeks there have been a lot of rumors that have emerged over who is considered to be in the shortlist including Sens. Tim Scott of South Carolina and Marco Rubio of Florida. Many of the other senators who are considered for the position have refused to guarantee that they will certify the results of the election. Scott however later on stated that he would “certainly” be certifying the election results.
