Fox News host Maria Bartiromo in a recent interview with Representative James Comer, a Kentucky Republican, questioned whether President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents from the Obama administration amounted to treason.

President Biden is currently under investigation following the discovery of several batches of classified documents in his possession. Biden is not the only one facing such an investigation right now. Former President Donald Trump is also being investigated by the Department of Justice because of the hundreds of classified documents that were seized from his Mar-a-Lago home. Trump has maintained that he did nothing wrong, despite his refusal to comply with the National Archives’ request to have the documents returned.

On Sunday morning, during the interview Comer, who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, replied to the question of whether it was treason, by saying that while the actions were “very concerning” he did not believe they were treasonous. He added that the Biden administration should cooperate with the House investigation into the case.

As Comer pointed out, the classified documents could have potentially put national security at risk, especially as they were located in Biden’s Delaware home. Hunter Biden, the president’s son, had access to the home which could potentially be a vulnerability due to his ties to foreign entities. Hunter Biden is also going to be central to House Republicans’ investigations.

Comer added they will not simply let the case go and that they have enough information to continue with their probe. He added that everything would go more smoothly if the White House cooperated with the House’s probe.
