(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Biden’s crippling debate performance has shone a spotlight on Dr. Kevin O’Connor, his personal physician.
In February, O’Connor, largely unknown to the public, oversaw President Joe Biden’s most recent physical exam, writing a public memo that described Biden as “fit for duty” and able to execute “his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations.”
Four Months later, on Tuesday, the White House claimed the assessment was still relevant.
However, amid a storm of scrutiny over Biden’s ability, Republican lawmakers have turned their attention to O’Connor, questioning why he hasn’t pushed Biden to undergo cognitive testing and asking him to answer questions before Capitol Hill.
Republican Rep. James Comer (Kentucky), chair of the House Oversight Committee, has sent O’Connor a letter requesting he sit for a transcribed interview with the panel to discuss his medical assessment of Biden.
Comer pointed out that Americans had questions about “Biden’s ability to lead the country” following the debate and explained the Committee would be “investigating [the] circumstances surrounding” O’Connor’s assessment of Biden as a “healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male” who could continue his duties as President.
Comer also asked O’Connor to turn over documents about his alleged ties to the Biden family businesses.
O’Connor, who has worked with the President’s brother, James Biden, in the past, has had a close relationship with the President that spans more than a decade.
First brought onto the White House Medical Unit by President George W. Bush, O’Connor had anticipated his three-year tour would end after serving six months with Biden as a new Vice President during the Obama administration.
But he stayed the entire eight-year term and then remained as Biden’s personal physician when Biden exited the White House, helping the President’s son, Beau Biden, with his brain cancer diagnosis.
He returned to the White House in 2021, when Biden became the President, never following through on his plans to retire.
