Mass-Quitting Phenomenon Sweeps The Nation
(TruthandLiberty.com) – Over the last year, Americans have engaged in a new phenomenon. In April 2021, employees began leaving their jobs at the highest rate since the government started tracking employment records. Between October 2021 and April 2022, over 4 million people quit their jobs each month. In many cases, the rift left employers with significant staffing shortages and a lack of talent.
On Wednesday, June 22, Newsweek reported against the grain of orthodox thinking. For a year, many consumers experienced challenges dining out or shopping at retailers. Naturally, many people assumed the root of the recession was the number of lower-paid workers taking time away from employment. That assessment may not be entirely accurate.

Newsweek noted that highly paid top performers were also quitting their jobs in search of greener pastures. Additionally, recent data by the government shows that people haven’t been leaving jobs and hanging out at home. Instead, they’re taking advantage of better opportunities in the market.
Still, a Pew Research report said the top reasons people left their positions included lack of pay, lost upward mobility, and disrespectful treatment from employers. The survey added that those who left found jobs that paid better, had more opportunities, and valued life-work balance and flexibility.
