Pelosi Ordered To Investigate Biden
Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., has requested that an investigation be launched into the Biden administration’s push for Saudi Arabia to delay their reduction of oil production until the midterm elections have passed. The request was made to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who would be tasked with arranging the necessary hearings.
OPEC+ announced that they would be cutting down their oil production levels by around two million barrels per day. This reduced production is bound to lead to a spike in gas prices ahead of the US midterm elections in November. An announcement was made by the Saudi government regarding the US request that the cut down in production be pushed back by a month.
Their statement, which was released on Thursday, said that the Saudi government has taken into account the US administration’s request for OPEC’s decision to be pushed back due to the suspected negative consequences.
This statement led to many Republican lawmakers criticizing the move and saying that the Biden administration might be considering the effects on the election results if OPEC+ proceeds with their move.
The administration responded by accusing the Saudi government of deflecting to continue its support for Russia.
John Kirby, the White House spokesman, also said that the Saudis are aware that this move there is going to help increase Russian revenues and will lead to the imposed sanctions having lesser effects.
However, many Republicans were not pleased with this report. Tiffany wrote a letter to Pelosi saying that what the Saudis said was a “very serious allegation,” and that it could also count as foreign interference with the US elections.
