Parents Arrested for Starving Baby to Death in Indiana Home

Parents Arrested After Authorities Make GRUESOME Discovery

(TruthandLiberty.com) – Whenever a baby or child passes away at a young age, it’s tragic and heartbreaking. Yet, it might be even more disconcerting when parents are to blame for the preventable death of a child. In February, police responded to a call involving an unresponsive baby. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders determined the infant had died just one day after Valentine’s Day.

On Tuesday, April 26, Warrick County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Jakob Scott and 23-year-old Caylin Monroe of Evansville, Indiana, for the death of their 85-day-old child. The coroner determined malnourishment and starvation as the cause of death. After an extensive police investigation, the Sheriff’s office gathered the information and presented it to the Warrick County Prosecutor’s office. The district attorney charged both parents with murder and neglect of a dependent resulting in death, and the county sheriff is currently holding Scott and Monroe without bond.

The baby’s obituary identified him as Silas “Shuggie Bear” Chance-Kent Scott. The parents already had rap sheets before the baby’s death. In January 2022, both of them pleaded guilty to the delinquency of a minor and marijuana possession. Ms. Monroe also has an active paternity case involving two of her other children.
