For the first time, researchers say something weird is happening. Two astronomers found evidence the universe is expanding faster than scientists initially thought. On Thursday, May 19, NASA told Express that observations from around the time of the Big Bang to today show the universe’s expansion is faster now than at the origin of the universe. Astronomers say the discrepancy between the expansion speed at the Big Bang and now is a mystery.
Scientists state the new revelations mean the universe will double in size in the next 10 billion years. In 2021, NASA launched the new James Webb Space Telescope. The space agency said the new tool is preparing to send its first images of the universe to Earth, and the enhanced image quality over Hubble will allow scientists to establish new mile markers that are further away and much clearer.
