(TruthandLiberty.com) – A mother took to TikTok to post a now-viral video in which she explained why she never returns her shopping cart. The video has resulted in many people criticizing the mother of two for failing to meet what is considered social etiquette.
Dr. Leslie Dobson, who has two children, stated that people can judge her all they want but she never returned her shopping cart. She added that she would never get all of her groceries and children in the car and then leave them there just so she could return the cart. She then noted that everyone who was giving her a “dirty look” was cold “f— off.”
Since its posting the video has garnered over 11 million views and 100,000 comments, with many people slamming Dobson for her position. One user shared on the video an anonymous quote that had gone viral several years back. The quote stated that the shopping cart was the “ultimate litmus test” to determine if someone has the capability of self-governing. They added that returning the cart was both convenient and easy.
A different commentator pointed out that there was a way of taking the cart back without having to leave the children unattended. As the user pointed out, they were a mother of three children ranging in age from 9 months to 6 years old, and were capable of returning the car with the children and then getting them back in the car in the same way they had gotten them out of the car when they first arrived at the store.
Dobson responded to that comment by stating that she wanted women to be empowered and know that if they did not feel safe they could ignore judgment and do what they felt like. She added that lives were precious and the risk was not worth taking.
