(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith during an appearance on “KG Certified” the podcast of former NBA player Kevin Garnett argued that should former First Lady Michelle Obama choose to run in the 2024 presidential election she would “hands down” win the election against former President Donald Trump.
Garnett had asked Smith how close he believed the United States was to having a female leader. In response, Smith stated that if the email controversy had not affected former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, then in 2016, they would have had a female president. He added that he believes “she was that close.”
He continued by stating that he believed that Michelle Obama would be able to win the presidential race if she ended up running. He added that she would “hands down” defeat Trump, who is the presumptive Republican nominee for 2024. However, as he pointed out this was not going to happen as Obama does not appear to have any interest in joining politics in this way.
Obama previously squashed the rumors about her joining the presidential race and has expressed support for the reelection campaign of President Biden.
The director of communication for Michelle Obama’s office, Crystal Carson put out a statement in March in which she reiterated that Obama has repeatedly stated over the years that she would not be running for office. Still, many Republicans have argued that it is possible that Biden would withdraw from the race and Obama would come in as his replacement.
