(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Sunday House Speaker Kevin McCarthy during an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo predicted that Donald Trump would become the 2024 Republican presidential nominee. During his appearance, he further claimed that the 2024 presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis were “not at the same level.”
When Bartiromo asked McCarthy if he believed that former President Trump would be the 2024 nominee, McCarthy stated that he thinks he will be. He added that Trump is stronger in 2024 than he was in both 2016 and 2020 because Americans saw that his policies prioritized America and strengthened the country’s economy.
As he pointed out during Trump’s administration there was no inflation, or wars around the world, and the country did not look weak.
Bartiromo pointed out that DeSantis appeared to be collaborating with the House GOP members who were pushing for a government shutdown.
However, McCarthy stated that he did not believe that a government shutdown would only help strengthen the Democrats and President Biden, without paying for the country’s military or border. As he noted Trump is being smart and even in the polls right now he is ahead of President Biden. As he argued, DeSantis was not at the same level as Trump and he would have never been elected in 2018 had it not been for the former president’s endorsement.
While McCarthy has not officially endorsed Trump, his recent statements show that he is sending the former president a message of friendship. In June it had been alleged that some of McCarthy’s remarks had offended the Trump campaign.
