Chapelle Attacker’s Statements Prove That Will Smith Destroyed Comedy
(TruthandLiberty.com) – On March 27, famous actor Will Smith slapped comedian star Chris Rock on stage during the 94th Academy Awards after the comedian joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Some viewers openly questioned whether members of the public would follow Smith’s lead the next time they found any comedian’s joke offensive. On May 3, a man rushed the stage and tackled comedian Dave Chappelle after he cracked jokes about homeless people and the LGBTQ community.
Police arrested 23-year-old Isaiah Lee for the intrusion. On Monday, May 23, Lee told a New York Post representative Will Smith’s public slap inspired him to take action against Chappelle. On Saturday, Lee stated he is bisexual and a sexual abuse survivor who experienced homelessness. Lee said some topics are sensitive, and Chappelle should run his material by someone the next time he plans to make offensive statements.

While Lee claims to stand by his beliefs sincerely, there was another reason he attacked Dave Chappelle: the free publicity. Lee told the Post he’s a hopeful rap star, admitting he was also clout chasing, hoping it would raise his musical profile.
Standup comics only used to face heckling, a protest still considered bad form in polite circles. When did it become socially acceptable to use physical violence to confront offensive words?
