On Monday, Joe Tacopina, attorney, praised former President Donald Trump’s fundraising numbers following the announcement that he was indicted in the Manhattan court case. Trump is expected to appear on Tuesday in a Manhattan court for an arraignment.

Tacopina, who is Trump’s lawyer, said during an appearance on Newsmax’s “The Balance”  that this is going to turn into “a new campaign strategy” where people get indicted in order to raise large amounts of money. This comment came after host Eric Bolling pointed out that Trump raised millions of dollars following his indictment on Thursday.

Tacopina in his statement also said that for most people if they were indicted it would essentially mean the end of their chance at having a political career or running for office, but with Trump, the indictment has helped catapult his numbers. Since being indicted he has raised more money than ever before because his supporters are now fully onboard with his claims about the “justice system being weaponized against him.” He added that all of his predictions about his political opponents using the justice system in order to attack him are coming true.

Trump, who launched his campaign for the White House in 2024, is the first U.S. President, former or current, to have faced criminal charges. The former president has already arrived in New York ahead of his arraignment which is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday. During the court appearance, he is going to be informed about the exact charges he is facing, as the indictment is currently sealed and the charges have not been made public.
