(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Tuesday, during the closing arguments in the hush money trial in New York, Trump’s lawyer argued that one of the witnesses in the case had lied on the stand and was untrustworthy. He continued by pressing for jurors to acquit the former president.
The arguments are expected to continue the entire day, which will allow the attorneys to address the jury for their final arguments and points before the jury starts its deliberations.
Defense attorney Todd Blanche argued that former President Donald Trump was innocent and that he had not committed any crimes. He added that the district attorney had failed to meet the necessary burden of proof and that the evidence in the case left a lot to be desired. Blanche continued by pointing out that due to the lack of proof which became clear during the trial the verdict in this case should be not guilty.
The trial has taken place over five weeks, and the jury will now be called to determine for the first time in history whether the presumptive GOP presidential nominee should be convicted in connection to the charges of falsifying business records in connection to hush money payment made on his behalf to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
Prosecutors are going to deliver their arguments after the defense team as they have the burden of proof.
Prosecutors are going to argue that jurors have heard sufficient testimony to convict Trump, while the defense is going to be focusing on Michael Cohen’s lack of credibility. Cohen is the one who had made the hush money payment on Trump’s behalf.
