Party Turns DEADLY – A Disgrace To This Holiday
(TruthandLiberty.com) – Juneteenth became an official federal holiday on June 17, 2021. The festivities date back to 1865 — just two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, making it the longest-observed holiday in the US Black community. The celebration became a nightmare on Sunday, June 19, in Washington, DC.
During a Juneteenth event in Washington, DC, one person killed a teenager and shot three other people, including a DC Metropolitan police officer. Police believe only one suspect was involved, but they haven’t stated whether they have a person of interest in the case. Police Chief Robert Contee said the shooting occurred around 6:00 p.m. during an unpermitted event.

Video of the shooting showed chaos as people tried to flee the area. Contee said it only takes one person to create mayhem in a densely populated event, noting officers recovered several illegal guns. The weapon involved in the shooting was still missing. The chief said police didn’t fire any gunshots during the incident.
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser told the media the community needed accountability, and she voiced displeasure that a gathering that size could occur without proper planning. Despite the non-permitted Juneteenth celebration, the organizers’ heavy marketing led the police chief to assign more than 100 police officers to monitor the event and ensure public safety, according to Contee.
