Jeffrey Epstein Prison to Be Shut Down Abruptly

(TruthandLiberty.com) – Detention centers aren’t supposed to be fun, cozy getaways for convicted criminals. Prison is a punishment, although there’s a difference between punishing a bad guy and torturing them. In New York City, the infamous jail where Jefferey Epstein died is facing intense scrutiny for a good reason. On Thursday, August 26, the federal Bureau of Prison said it was temporarily closing the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.

Despite horror stories about the correctional facility’s condition, it took a visit by US Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco for anything to change. Officials acknowledge that mice, rats and roaches infested the facility, the infrastructure was crumbling and staffing shortages had created a lax security situation. Living conditions were so grotesque that inmates shared disgusting sinks and toilets that leaked urine, feces and water.

Officials say the deteriorating detention facility could permanently close. Prison authorities are moving approximately 230 Inmates across town to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. It’s the same facility where officials are holding Epstein’s longtime associate and enabler, Ghislaine Maxwell, on charges of sex trafficking, enticement of minors and perjury.

The now-closed prison once housed some infamous criminals, including but not limited to Mexican drug lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, Mafia boss John Gotti, Wall Street swindler Bernard Madoff and terrorist suspects with links to Osama bin Laden.
