(TruthandLiberty.com) – It wasn’t long ago when parents debated the wisdom of giving kids cell phones because they could distract them during school or at home. Times have changed, and it may be for the better in some ways. Take, for instance, what happened recently in Atlanta, Georgia. On April 4, Jerrica Moore entered a parking lot and stepped away from her vehicle. She left the keys and her 9-year-old son inside the car. In the short time she was away from the vehicle, someone jumped in and stole the car with her son still in it.
Moore immediately called the police. She used an app on her iPhone that wasn’t necessarily designed to track a child, but it worked. The mom used the Find My Phone app that comes pre-installed with Apple products. Apple engineers designed the app to help someone find where they left their phone or track it down if it was stolen. In this case, police were able to use the real-time tracking feature to find the stolen car and Moore’s son.

Police used a safe procedure to immobilize the vehicle and successfully took the suspect into custody without incident, reuniting mom and son. To avoid this kind of event, never leave keys or kids inside an unattended vehicle.
