(TruthandLiberty.com) – It’s hard to believe “The Simpsons” is still going strong after 32 years. In its 33rd season, the most popular animated show of all time just renewed until 2023, but producer Al Jean said it could have ended in 2011. Thankfully for millions of fans, it didn’t. “The Simpsons” is the only program ever to run in five consecutive decades. The popular animated show recently celebrated its 700th episode.

Many people wonder when or if the show will ever end. There’s speculation it could make 1,000 episodes. Jean says if that happens, it will take 12 more seasons — and he’s delighted to keep making them if viewers want more of the famous family. When the first episode aired on December 17, 1989, it featured a pageant at the Springfield Elementary School. Jean imagines the final episode would go back to the Christmas pageant during the debut. He says when it’s time to end “The Simpsons,” the series would be a continuous loop by ending the show where it all started.
Jean added that “The Simpsons” is doing well on Disney+ and that there’s no way it’s going away anytime soon. He noted that the show is the top scripted show in the United States. So, sit back, log on and watch new episodes on Disney+. You’ll laugh as hard as you did when it first launched 32 years ago.
