(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Arizona State University’s Center for American Institutions political history professor and director Donald Critchlow claimed that following President Biden’s announcement that he is dropping out of the presidential race, there has been a lot of excitement among Hollywood celebrities to support Vice President Kamala Harris.
Late last month, following the first presidential debate, many celebrities and Democratic lawmakers had called for Biden to drop out of the presidential race. Despite his earlier claims that he would not be exiting the race, Biden decided to drop out and endorse Kamala Harris. In a statement, he argued that it was in the United States’ best interest that he is entirely focused on his duties as the U.S. president until the end of his term.
Following the announcement, Harris has raised millions of dollars for her campaign, and has reportedly received sufficient support from Democratic delegates to be considered the party’s presumptive nominee in November.
Many of Biden’s biggest Hollywood supporters, including Eva Longoria and Barbra Streisand have praised Biden’s decision to drop out of the presidential race while announcing their support for Harris.
Longoria, in a post on social media, noted that she believed in Harris and that they would manage to organize the efforts and win the upcoming election.
Streisand released her own statement through The New York Times expressing gratitude for Biden and her support for Harris.
University of Saint Mary professor Mark Harvey has noted that there was a difference in the momentum following Harris’s entrance to the presidential race, as there was a younger person in the race who would not be perceived as being as out of touch as Biden was. He added that Harris is most likely going to attract the support of more celebrities.
