(TruthandLiberty.com) – One of the core features of cryptocurrencies is they transcend nations’ borders. In the United States, people see them more as investment tools while they remain in their infancy. Some governments, such as El Salvador, recently made Bitcoin their national currency or have invested heavily in cryptocurrency. Some cryptocurrencies are forming and growing as vehicles to protect one’s money.
In the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, some cryptocurrencies have blocked people in Russia from sending money in or out of the country. Other cryptocurrencies are hesitant to follow along because they don’t want governments to dictate how their funds work, while still others argue by their nature, cryptocurrencies are free-trade instruments that don’t lend themselves to trade embargoes. That’s not sitting well with former Secretary of State and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Clinton: "Some of the so-called crypto exchanges…are refusing to end transactions with Russia for some philosophy of libertarianism or whatever."

On Monday, February 28, Clinton told MSNBC’s Rachael Maddow Show the international community needed to continue applying as much economic pressure on Russia as possible. In calling on everyone to increase financial sanctions, Clinton said she was disappointed in several crypto exchanges for refusing to end dealings with the European country. The former first lady called it some version of the philosophy of libertarianism that needed to terminate immediately.
Clinton added she believed the Biden administration and European governments were evaluating how to prevent crypto markets from operating in Russia. She stated the international monetary system shouldn’t allow dictators to skirt the rules by fleeing to cryptocurrencies.
