GOP mega-donor Ken Griffin has said that it was time for the GOP to turn their attention away from former President Donald Trump and towards a new leader. In an interview with Politico, Griffin said that while he supported the fiscal policies that were put in place under the Trump administration, it was still time for the party to look elsewhere for its leadership.

Trump has repeatedly teased another run for the White House in 2024. The latest of these hints was dropped during a campaign rally on Saturday in Pennsylvania where he was supporting Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz and gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano.

During the rally, Trump said that he would be making a lot of people happy “very, very, very” soon. He also added that first, they would need to secure a victory for Republicans in the midterms.

Griffin, the CEO of the investment firm Citadel, has been an active supporter of Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is widely considered one of the few challengers that could take Trump on for the 2024 GOP candidacy. whose name has also been floated as a potential 2024 presidential candidate.

However, Griffin has admitted that there are certain moves that DeSantis has made that he is not in agreement with. These include the transportation of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard and the revoking of Disney World’s special tax status. Regarding the latter, Griffin noted that it looked like retribution after Disney’s comments about the Parental Rights Act.

Still, Griffin supports DeSantis and believes that he would serve very well as President.
