(TruthandLiberty.com) – In May 2020, the police murder of George Floyd brought social justice to the forefront of America’s consciousness. Now, his 4-year-old great-niece is also the victim of violent crime. In the early hours of New Year’s Day, Arianna Delane was in her bed peacefully sleeping when she was shot in the torso by a stray bullet. At 3:00 a.m. Houston police say someone fired several shots inside the apartment, where four adults and two children resided.

After being shot, the young girl awoke and told her father what had happened. Stunned and in disbelief, her mother took her to the hospital. She underwent surgery for a punctured lung and three broken ribs. She is reportedly in stable condition.
Delane’s father said police didn’t show up until four hours after the incident. Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said the response time was unacceptable and opened an internal affairs investigation to get to the bottom of the delay. The chief asked citizens to pray for Arianna and to assist in offering information that would lead to the arrest of assailants responsible for the shooting.
Police don’t have a description of the suspects or a motive. Arianna is the granddaughter of George Floyd’s sister, LaTonya Floyd.
