(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Mike Stiegler, a former Situation Room officer, told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos during an interview on Tuesday that former Vice President Mike Pence had come “close” to being killed during the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021.
As he argued he believed that it was important that they do not forget that he had come close and that they had discussions about what would occur if the 25th Amendment was invoked because they lost the vice president. The interview was aired on Tuesday on “Good Morning America” where it was noted that they had started considering all of these different “game plans” as the possibility was getting closer.
Stiegler agreed with the ABC host’s assessment of the Jan. 6 riot being “inspired” by former President Donald Trump and being “of our own people.” However, he did point out that at the time that had not been what was on their mind. He added that it did not matter how things had gotten to this place, but what mattered was what they would do now that they were here.
On Jan. 6, Pence faced a lot of threats after he refused to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Rioters had broken into the Capitol which led to Pence being taken to an underground loading dock.
Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), who is currently one of the people on former President Donald Trump’s shortlist for his running mate, has argued that he doubts Pence’s life had ever been in danger on that day. Earlier this month he had also argued that he believed that people in politics really liked to exaggerate sometimes.
