Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida on Tuesday night addressed a crowd of leading Republicans who gave him a hero’s welcome only minutes before former President Donald Trump’s announcement.
DeSantis is widely considered to be the big winner from last week’s midterm elections, as he won his reelection campaign by a large margin. On Tuesday he received a standing ovation before his keynote conversation at the Republican Governors Association’s winter meeting in Orlando.
Many sources pointed out how DeSantis currently had the spotlight on himself after he not only won his reelection campaign, but he also managed to flip the historically Democratic Miami-Dade County by connecting with Hispanic voters.
Another source added that the speech was very well received, as many consider it the blueprint to winning other battleground states across the country.
Many have noted that DeSantis’s reelection victory proves the success of his efforts to combat “woke curriculum” and focus on education.
DeSantis’ keynote speech took place only minutes before Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign was launched. However, according to sources, Trump “was not even a topic of discussion” during DeSantis’ speech.
Florida’s governor has had his popularity skyrocket in the past couple of years. In large part, his success has been due to his pushback against many of the COVID-19 restrictions posed by the government.
DeSantis has not yet made any announcements about a potential 2024 presidential bid, even though there have been many speculations about him placing one.
