A new nonprofit group is going to be supporting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in his political plans across the nation. This has been viewed by many as further proof that DeSantis is moving towards a 2024 presidential bid.

The nonprofit organization “And to the Republic,” hosted three different events for DeSantis in his tour

touting the importance of law enforcement. The events took place in New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia, and included DeSantis talking with law enforcement officers. According to a source familiar with the new nonprofit group, they noted that the group was happy to have helped DeSantis bring more attention to those policies that have helped the state, and those that are “clearly not working.”

And to the Republic is registered as a 501(c)(4) issue advocacy organization, which is a nonprofit organization that can raise unlimited funds without needing to disclose the names of its donors. The new group started its operations on Jan. 30 with a completely bare-bones website. A source familiar with the group said that the group wants to plan events for other politicians as well, including other governors who they have invited to join in events similar to the ones they organized for DeSantis.

A number of potential Republican presidential contenders have been benefiting from nonprofit issue advocacy groups’ support. These include former Vice President Mike Pence and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, who have for years collaborated with nonprofits that support their policies.
