Former President Trump granted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) a new nickname during a campaign rally on Saturday night. During the event, Trump coined the nickname “Ron DeSanctimonious” for DeSantis who is expected to be the biggest competition Trump will face for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 if both men opt to run.
During a rally in Latrobe, Pa., Trump called out DeSantis and once again teased potentially running again in the 2024 election.
Trump said that in this midterm election they would take back both the House and the Senate. He also said that in 2024 they would most importantly also win back the White House.
He also said that he promised the people that he would make them happy in a very short while.
Axios has reported that Trump’s team is preparing for launching his presidential bid on Nov. 14. That would be around one week after the midterm election day.
Axios reported on Friday that Trump’s team is considering launching his presidential bid on Nov. 14, less than a week after voters head to the polls in the midterm elections. Trump has not yet fully confirmed that he would be running, however, he did suggest that he would have announced if he were not currently focused on supporting Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Mehmet Oz and Republican gubernatorial nominee Doug Mastriano.
Most polls show that in a match-up Trump would beat DeSantis for the Republican nomination. However, DeSantis is a potential threat to Trump, while other potential nominees, including former Vice President Mike Pence and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), are far lower in the polls.
