Following the release of the classified information from the Obama-Biden administration that has been found in Biden’s previous office and Delaware home, many Democrats are worrying that this controversy is going to have a similar result in President Biden’s reelection campaign as the emails had in Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
Democrats have maintained that they believed that Biden could survive the controversy relating to the three different batches of classified documents that have been located across different properties. However, even though publicly they appear to be supportive, privately they have questioned whether there could potentially be a comparison that could be drawn between Biden’s and Clinton’s cases. Prior to the 2016 election, it had been released that the Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton had used a private email account while serving as the former secretary of State.
Outside of the comparison with Clinton, Republicans could also use the information regarding Biden’s case with the classified documents to draw comparisons to former President Trump’s case. Trump has been found to have kept hundreds of classified documents in his possession after the FBI raided his Mar-a-Lago estate and found the documents there in August 2022.
Rodell Mollineau, a veteran Democratic strategist has maintained that the two cases are completely different, despite the Republican’s attempts to make this a much greater scandal than it is.
Republicans on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability have already launched a probe into the classified documents found in Biden’s possession.
