Following the midterm elections, many Democrats are hoping that former President Donald Trump will be able to win the GOP presidential nomination in 2024 over other potential candidates like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Many are pointing to the results of the 2020 election to show that Democrats are less threatened by Trump, especially when he is compared to other potential 2024 GOP candidates. As Trump is viewed as an easier-to-beat candidate, many are hoping to see him win the GOP nomination.

With 2024 fast approaching, many on the GOP side are hoping to see DeSantis announce his own presidential bid. This is after DeSantis managed to have an incredibly good midterm election, winning his race by a large margin. However, the Florida governor has not yet disclosed his intention for the 2024 presidential election.

Throughout the 2022 midterm election, the Democrats supported Trump-endorsed candidates in the primary, hoping that these candidates would be easier to defeat during the actual midterm elections. In these efforts, the Democrats spent $40 million in funding, which is why many are waiting to see whether the party will take a similar approach in the GOP presidential primaries and possibly support Trump who is considered the easier-to-defeat candidate.
