On Thursday a new CNN poll showed that only 32 percent of Americans believe that President Biden deserves to be reelected. This marks a decline of 5 percent from the December poll asking the same question.

Sixty-seven percent of respondents on the other hand claimed that Biden did not deserve to be reelected. Biden has not yet launched a reelection bid, nor has he officially announced that he would run in 2024 still, he has frequently maintained that he is planning on running in 2024. So far, the only Democratic candidate to have joined the 2024 presidential race is progressive self-help author Marianne Williamson.

When it came to Democrat and Democrat-leaning independent respondents, Biden’s results were slightly better with 44 percent stating that they would like Biden to be the party’s candidate in 2024. Of those who said that they would prefer to see a different candidate as the Democratic nominee, 69 percent did not disclose a specific person and instead claimed that they would just like to see “someone besides Joe Biden.”

Democratic voters are also equally split on whether Biden is going to be the party’s best chance of winning in 2024, with 49 percent on either side.

On the Republican side, 52 percent claimed that former President Donald Trump needed to be the party’s nominee in 2024. This marks a decisive increase of 14 points since the December poll.

Of the Republican and Republican-leaning voting respondents who would prefer to see a different candidate, 28 percent stated that they would like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to be the GOP candidate.
