Blue States Make Scary Preparation Ahead of SCOTUS Ruling
(TruthandLiberty.com) – While all the rage in the media is around what GOP-led states will do if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade in late June or early July, blue states have their own radical plans. In simple terms, if the High Court overturns Roe, it will not be banning abortion. Instead, it will apply the 10th Amendment, limiting the federal government’s power to declare a national health standard and returning the abortion issue to states.
Lawmakers in blue states say they plan to introduce legislation to expand abortions, remove wait times, and waive parental rights. Some even propose paying travel and other expenses for pregnant women seeking terminations in red states. Still, these ideas aren’t among the most extreme proposals.
NEW: Blue states are moving to allow nurses, midwives, and other non-physicians to provide abortions and allocating millions to train them in anticipation of a flood of out-of-state patients if Roe is overturned. My latest w/ @AliceOllstein. https://t.co/bckbODZJEw pic.twitter.com/ijnDs6Tzdd

In Connecticut and Maryland, Democrats propose expanding who can provide abortions. Instead of relying on overworked doctors to offer the procedure, lawmakers say their bills would allow registered nurses, nurse-midwives, and physician assistants to perform them as well. In Washington state, advanced practice clinicians can terminate pregnancies, and in Delaware, lawmakers passed laws to approve nurse practitioners and midwives to prescribe abortion pills.
Advocates of the legislation say these moves are necessary because they anticipate the demand for abortions in their states to skyrocket.
