On Wednesday comedian and political provocateur, Alex Stein sued Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for blocking him on Twitter after he had previously called her his “favorite big booty Latina,” as she was entering the building on July 13.
A video of Stein catcalling her was also posted online. In the video, he specifically called out to Ocasio-Cortez, “She wants to kill babies but she’s still beautiful. You look very beautiful in that dress. You look very sexy. Look at that booty on AOC.” He continued to say, “Look how sexy she looks in that dress. Oooh, I love it AOC. Hot, hot, hot like a tamale.”
In his lawsuit, Stein cites a federal appeals court decision in which it was ruled that then-President Donald Trump had violated the constitutional rights of many people by blocking them on Twitter. However, the appeals court noted that at the time Trump had been acting in his official presidential capacity when he chose to block those people.
Following that ruling in November 2019, Ocasio-Cortez apologized as part of the settlement of a case with former Brooklyn assemblyman Dov Hikind, who had sued her for blocking him from her account.
At the time Ocasio-Cortez had pointed out that Hiking “has a First Amendment right to express his views and should not be blocked for them.” Stein is hoping to have a similar settlement in his case which was filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.
