(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Tuesday, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) when asked about a possible third-party bid revealed to NBC Nightly News’ Lester Holt during the Aspen Ideas festival that she was not planning on doing anything that could potentially be helpful to former President Donald Trump.
She added that she has not yet made any choices and that this is something she will consider and decide on later this year. She further noted that to her it was incredibly important that they do not allow what is “special and magnificent” about the United States to get lost.
Cheney is one of Trump’s most vocal supporters and has in the past often talked about the importance of blocking Trump from regaining the White House. This is something she reiterated during the event, noting that her primary concern was on stopping Trump rather than her own political future.
She proceeded to say that she would not be making any announcements today. She also stated that from the polls it was clear that Trump is so far leading the Republican presidential primary race, and that to her what she is going to do is not so much about her as a possible candidate and more about helping some other good candidates and stopping Trump.
Cheney also warned that if Trump wins the Republican nomination then it is likely the party is going to splinter.
The former Representative was one of 10 House Republicans who voted in favor of impeachment for Trump following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection. She was then unsuccessful in the primary race for her seat, losing to a Trump-endorsed candidate.
