There are many issues that are slowly emerging as key issues that the Republicans and Democrats will have to choose how to handle ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
These issues could have a particularly large effect on the results of the presidential election and they include:
1. Social Security and Medicare
During the State of the Union address, President Biden brought up how there were some Republicans who wanted to sunset the two entitlement programs. However, many Republicans have adamantly stated that this is not the case. The handling of these entitlement programs is proving to be a big issue for both parties as we head into 2024.
Education has also been at the forefront lately, especially after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) administration recently rejected an Advanced Placement course on African American studies. The College Board was forced to revise the course and resubmit it for consideration after it was rejected.
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R), has also spoken about the importance of education as many people are rallying against critical race theory (CRT) and are looking for more parental rights in education.
Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade this past summer, abortion rights have become one of the key social issues that the Democrats are running on. Much like in the 2022 election, abortion rights and access are expected to remain equally important going into the next presidential election.
