(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Wednesday Hunter Biden requested that former President Donald Trump, as well as three senior officials who had served in the Trump Department of Justice, be subpoenaed. The subpoenas would be part of Hunter Biden’s attempts to seek evidence to prove that the criminal prosecution of Biden was politically motivated.
Hunter Biden, who is currently facing three federal gun charges, is calling for all documents and communications between former Attorney General Bill Barr and Trump to be handed over. However, a judge needs to first approve the demands for the documents which extend to former acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen and former Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue.
Biden’s attorneys have noted in a court filing that Biden is looking for specific information from Trump and the three Justice Department officials that could be used in his defense and could show that at the start of the previous administration selective prosecution had been pursued which is a violation of Hunter Biden’s Fifth Amendment rights.
Earlier this year Biden had been offered a plea deal that has since fallen through. Delaware prosecutors indicted Biden on three charges in September, including accusations that he had unlawfully possessed a firearm while having an addition to controlled substances that he failed to disclose at the time of purchase. Biden, who has in the past acknowledged that he has had trouble with addiction, has maintained that he is not guilty in this case.
Republicans had previously slammed the plea deal offered to Biden for being a “sweetheart deal.”
