Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) is appearing to be the deciding vote on whether President Biden’s agenda continues to proceed through Congress. Tested could end up being the deciding vote on some of Biden’s nominees like Eric Garcetti, the president’s pick for ambassador to India, and Phillip Washington, Biden’s pick for head of the Federal Aviation Administration.

Last week, Biden announced that he would be signing a GOP-sponsored resolution that would block the D.C. crime bill reform from going through. This would also give Tester some political cover regarding his current vote. He is also set to vote on another Republican-sponsored resolution which could ultimately block Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers attempt to expand federal jurisdiction.

David McCumber, a resident of Butte, Mont., who serves as the local news director in the Western United States for Lee Enterprises, said about Tester that he is not only an important swing vote but also the chair of the defense subcommittee on appropriations. He also serves as the chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee.

Tester is also currently leading the Senate investigation into the Chinese Spy Balloon which flew over the country last month before being shot down off the Coast of the Carolinas.

McCumber said regarding Tester that his prevalence is going to grow in the next two years and that he would most likely win the reelection.
