Biden’s Approval Rating Suddenly Surges

President Joe Biden, has achieved his highest approval rating in over a year, according to the latest polls. This can be viewed positively for the Democrats with the November 8 midterm elections fast approaching.

For sitting presidents, the midterm elections are always a sort of test. Republicans have for some time relied on the low approval ratings that President Biden has had. These low ratings were partly driven by the high gas price and high inflation rates. Republicans had been expecting a “red wave” as they were hoping to win back both the House and Senate, however, the recent increase in Biden’s approval ratings has heightened the tension in the upcoming election.

A YouGov poll showed that 45 percent of US adults approved of President Biden’s work in the office. Around 46 percent were still disapproving of his so far job. This has brought the margin between the two percentages much closer, with only a 1-point deficit between the two.

This is the highest approval rating that Biden has received in over a year. His approval ratings with independents have also climbed to 40 percent, from the 22 percent that it had been on June 25.

The more active approach that Biden has taken regarding the economy has also helped increase his rating after the past few months of high inflation rates and increased gas prices.

Republicans have long tried to link the economic challenges to the Biden administration’s policies, including their COVID-19 relief spending. However, polls have shown that the number of Americans who believe the President to be at fault for this has greatly been reduced

In this latest poll, 47 percent disapproved of Biden’s economic policies while 43 percent approved of the actions he has taken.
