Biden Takes Matters Into His Own Hands
(TruthandLiberty.com) – On Friday, July 15, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) killed President Joe Biden’s legislative agenda on climate change over inflation concerns. On Wednesday, July 20, Biden took matters into his own hands, absent congressional action. The president declared climate change demanded responsible action and warned citizens’ well-being was at stake.
Biden is planning to announce executive actions to combat climate change, but he’s expected to stop short of declaring a national emergency that would unlock new tools for driving down greenhouse gases, said a person familiar with the White House plans.https://t.co/qTiE63vnOD

Speaking at the closed Brayton Point Power Station in Somerset, Massachusetts, Biden fell short of climate activists’ demands to enact a national climate change emergency. Instead, he announced executive orders, including:
- Directing the Federal Emergency Management Agency to spend $2.3 billion to fight extreme heat
- Providing new guidance to the Department of Health and Human Services to help low-income Americans afford air conditioners and access to community cooling centers
- Ordering the Department of the Interior to devise a plan to build windmill farms in the Gulf of Mexico
The president said climate change is an emergency, and his administration will treat it as such. Biden insinuated he’s just getting started and will use executive authority to combat the crisis without Congress. Still, questions abound regarding what he can and cannot do without legislation. Political analysts say Biden’s spending and climate change plan will likely face legal challenges.
In June, the US Supreme Court eroded the Environmental Protection Agency’s power to curb emissions from power plants due to a lack of specific authorization from Congress.
