President Biden on Thursday warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin was “not joking” when he talked about nuclear weapons. He also said that this was the greatest nuclear threat that the world has faced since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Biden during a fundraiser in New York City said that a possible “Armageddon” had not been faced since Kennedy and the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Biden continued to say that Putin is not joking when he says that he could use nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons, especially in light of the current underperformance of the Russian military.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fundraiser, which is where Biden made all of his comments and even questioned the extent to which small tactical nuclear weapons were an option.

Biden also added that he is trying to figure out how Putin can put himself in a position that does not lead to him losing both his reputation within Russia and outside it.

These are only the latest comments to be made regarding the possible threat of Russia bringing a nuclear weapon into their war in Ukraine.

Last month, during Putin’s speech in which he announced the mobilization of thousands more troops, he also said that Moscow was ready to use nuclear weapons if it felt that any of its territories were being threatened.

Putin also added that Russia has many “means of destruction, and some components are more modern than those of the NATO countries.”

This announcement was made after Ukraine launched its counteroffensive which sought to retake many of the areas in the country that are currently held by Russia.
