(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Following Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Trump, President Biden is hoping to reset his 2024 campaign, moving attention away from the criticisms he has recently faced within his own party. Late last month Biden’s poor performance during the first presidential debate resulted in multiple Democrats pushing for him to withdraw from the presidential race. However, these calls ceased after the recent assassination attempt.

Democratic insiders report a halt in discussions about Biden stepping down, while Biden had made calls to donors and lawmakers in order to address these concerns previously, there are no further calls currently being scheduled. Democratic strategist David Thomas has stated that he believes the calls for Biden to resign will not resurface after the recent incident.

Biden has maintained that he is committed to the presidential race and he will not be dropping out. However, he faced significant internal pressure, with nearly 20 Democratic lawmakers pushing for his withdrawal recently, while many centrist Democrats had stated they are disappointed in his campaign strategy.

The political landscape shifted dramatically after a gunman fired shots at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania, wounding Trump and killing one attendee. Biden has since made three public addresses, emphasizing unity over politics. His campaign paused activities in response to the shooting but planned to resume on Monday evening.

Former Rep. Joe Crowley pointed out that polling is going to be very important to determine the position that Biden will be in as he heads into the Democratic National Convention in August.
