Biden May Have To BETRAY His Biggest Allies
(TruthandLiberty.com) – In 2019, then-Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden told America he would end US fossil fuel use to protect the environment if elected. Over the last 18 months, President Joe Biden revoked permits for the Keystone XL pipeline, instituted federal bans on drilling, and turned to OPEC over US companies to lower gas prices. Now that the national average for gasoline is around $5 per gallon, Biden may have to undercut his green agenda if he wants to save his presidency.
On Wednesday, June 22, Biden proposed a three-month federal gas tax holiday to help reduce gasoline prices. Still, critics say it may not make a practical difference, and others contend it’s an election gimmick. Additionally, those who oppose Biden’s proposal say a gas tax holiday will only benefit the fossil fuel industry. They add it would also undercut his ongoing message the country must transition to renewable energies.

Progressives unhappy with Biden’s suggestion contend he’s acting like a hypocrite. Americans across the board worry about how gas prices and inflation have outpaced the rise in income over the last year. Still, Congress has never suspended the federal gas tax since it went into law in 1993. It’s currently at 18.4 cents per gallon for gasoline and 24 cents for diesel fuel.
