(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Thursday, James Comer, the head of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, stated that he believes the House possesses the necessary votes to initiate an impeachment investigation into President Biden. He anticipates a vote to take place mid-month.
“We are confident in the numbers for initiating an impeachment investigation,” Comer remarked in a Newsmax interview.
As he oversees a probe into the affairs of Biden’s family and business, Comer believes that the emails obtained from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) from Biden’s vice-presidential tenure were pivotal in swaying the last few hesitant Republicans towards endorsing the move.
“The data from the NARA was a turning point for several Republicans who had reservations about endorsing an impeachment investigation,” Comer mentioned. “They came to the understanding that we require this mechanism to succeed in legal battles. We have nearly exhausted easily accessible avenues.”
There’s a growing consensus among House Republicans to vote on launching an impeachment investigation against the president. Investigations thus far into the Biden family have not found the president guilty of any wrongdoing. However, Comer and fellow GOP House leaders believe that the impeachment process will offer essential instruments for a thorough probe.
Comer further added that the ultimate call on when to conduct a potential vote for the impeachment inquiry would be up to Speaker Kevin McCarthy. He also highlighted that both he and the House Judiciary head, Jim Jordan, have consulted the Speaker about it. With the House resuming after the August break soon, Comer anticipates a vote within the month.
“My projection is that we’ll see a vote by mid-September. I foresee its approval, and I believe we will employ this against governmental bodies that are withholding pertinent data, such as the National Archives,” he concluded.
