( – On Monday Hunter Biden’s lawyers sued the IRS by claiming that its agents were targeting and attempting to embarrass their client.

In the filing, they cite the two IRS whistleblowers, Joseph Ziegler and Gary Shapley as examples of these attempts. The two whistleblowers had previously come forward with allegations about the IRS having mishandled the probe into Hunter Biden. In the lawsuit, Biden’s attorneys claim that the IRS had “unlawfully disclosed” the President’s son’s tax information and were calling for $1,000 in damages to be paid for each of the “unauthorized disclosure(s).”

In the lawsuit, they point out that Hunter Biden had the exact same responsibilities as all other American citizens and that the IRS needed to ensure that he abided by those. They proceeded to point out that his rights were also the same as the ones of other American citizens and that no government agency or agent had the right to violate his rights just because he was the President’s son. Still, as they point out, the IRS and its agents have acted in a way that shows that they do not believe that the rights of all other Americans are applicable to Biden.

The filing specifically alleges that the two whistleblowers targeted Biden and attempted to embarrass through the statements made to the media. However, as they point out this is only the latest example of the agency taking such actions. Finally, they added that the two whistleblowers should not be protected from their wrongdoings regarding the unauthorized disclosures as those are not allowed as part of the whistleblower process.
